New Sewer Connections

Step 1
a) Visit any of the customer care offices of WASCO in Lesotho and inform them about your wish to make a new sewer connection.
b) The staff at the customer care offices will establish whether the area you stay in is reticulated, that is, whether the area has a sewer network.

Step 2
a) If the area is reticulated you will have to pay M50.00 in order for a survey to be done. The survey is done to establish the distance of your site from the main sewer line. The maximum distance allowed to connect to a sewer line is 90 meters.
b) If the survey indicates that your site is within 90 meters, a quotation will be prepared within two weeks and you will be informed to fetch it when it is ready.

Step 3
a) You will be expected to pay the quoted amount in order for a connection to be done. The customer has two options to settle the quoted amount:

Or pay a 50% deposit and settle the remaining amount in installments. The customer can choose to pay the amount in installments for a period ranging from one to six months. (A sewer connection is only made once the deposit has been paid in full). The customer also has to bring along a certified copy of his/her passport and a letter requesting to pay the balance in installments.

Step 4

a) Once a sewer connection is made you will charged for this service. Sewer service fee is charged as 85 % of the total household water usage.
