The Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) has appointed a new Chief Executive, Mr. Mpeke Lebohang Makara, to mark an important milestone in the organization’s journey toward improved service delivery and operational excellence.
This leadership transition comes at a pivotal time as WASCO continues to enhance its provision of water and sanitation services throughout all urban and peri-urban centers in Lesotho. The newly appointed Chief Executive is expected to bring fresh perspective, strong leadership and a renewed strategic focus to the organization.
During a feedback meeting on 9 April 2026, with managers and staff, the Chief Executive highlighted the importance of collaboration, accountability, and effective communication. He emphasized that achieving the organization’s goals will depend on unity of purpose and commitment at all levels. ‘’ I would like to provide feedback, I have been here for a month, during which I took time to observe and learn to gain a decent understanding of what WASCO is and who its staff are. I would like to make a request and appeal for us to move forward together. As a person entrusted with responsibility for serving as the captain of this ship called WASCO, I wish to call for the start of a new journey. As of April 2026, this journey should mark the transformation of WASCO into a different outfit, a renewed brand, and a stronger organization under this Executive’, Mr. Makara said.
