WASCO in collaboration with the Ministry of Water represented by the Honourable Lepota Sekola – the Deputy Minister of Water, and Honourable `Matebatso Doti- the MP for Lithabaneng Constituency, handed over three (3) Jojo Water tanks of 10 thousand litres each to Ha Tšiu community. The event was held on Thursday 21st of January 2021, at Ha Tšiu.
In his address, Hon. Sekola expressed his gratitude and satisfaction with the success achieved on phase I of the ongoing plans and negotiations between, the Ministry of Water, WASCO and the community through its water committee representatives. “What makes me mostly happy, is the fact that everything achieved today was through a concerted effort between the three parties,” explains Hon. Sekola.
Hon. Sekola further informed the community that, this is an immediate solution to quench their thirst. He assured them of the yet upcoming sustainable solution to their problem, which his Ministry is currently working on, under the auspices of the upcoming Greater Maseru Water Supply Project (GMWSP).
In his speech of acknowledgement of the assistance, Hon Doti appealed to the Ha Tšiu community to use water efficiently and to take good care of the provided water tanks. “As I have committed to pay for water expenses untill the implementation of the upcoming GMWSP, kindly use water sparingly,” appealed Hon. Doti.
Hon. Vuyane Machaba Councillor for MMC 10 Ha Tsiu, expressed his heartfelt satisfaction. “This is a promising signal and I foresee no reason for failure of the upcoming project,” he said. On the same note, Mr. Batho Thejane, water committee chairperson commended WASCO and the Water Ministry for starting 2021 with a high note.
