Mr. Lehlohonolo Manamolela who served WASCO for a period of two years and six months as Chief Executive (CE) passed away after a short illness at Pelonomi Private Hospital in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
The 48-year-old Mr. Manamolela served WASCO from August, 2016 until his untimely death on 12th February, 2019. During his tenure of office, he worked tirelessly to ensure that the Company provides quality service to its customers as one of the requirements by the regulator, Lesotho Electricity and Water Authority (LEWA). It is under his leadership that WASCO took over the running of the Metolong dam Water Treatment Facility. He led the company through the tough takeover process that entailed deployment of resources to run a plant of such immense magnitude. Despite experienced challenges, the takeover process was carried out successfully. He steadfastly oversaw a number of initiatives that enhanced customer connection. The implementation of a 24 hour customer care facility that assisted customers to report all matters pertaining to the service of WASCO and their expeditious resolution. The initiation of the delivery of water supply services to the Ha Foso area as well as the implementation of the tertiary lines along the delivery pipeline from the Metolong Dam Treatment facility are some of the major initiatives worthy of mention.
During his tenure, information dissemination was his passion in enhancing stakeholder and customer relations. It was through his initiative that a weekly emergency radio programme on service disruptions and a weekly news bulletin were introduced for both external and internal stakeholders respectively. These are just a few of the initiatives he implemented during his time, there are a number of them and he is leaving behind a number of unfinished projects as his aspiration was for the Company to reach greater heights and to provide quality service.
He worked in number of institutions before joining WASCO namely; Ministry of Communications as Senior Information Officer, Manager Industrial Relations at Anglo Colliery Mining, Director Human Resources and Administration at Econet Telecom Lesotho, Head of Human Resources at Standard Lesotho Bank and Deputy Rector at Lesotho College of Education. He also served as a member of the Board of the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA), NACOLA as well as a representative of WASCO in the Board of Metolong Authority.
Mr. Manamolela is survived by his wife ‘Manthati, two daughters, mother and three brothers. He will be laid to rest on Saturday 02nd March 2019 at Kokobela Village in Maseru West. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
