On Wednesday the 27th August 2024 Water and Sewage Company (WASCO) launched the media campaign intended to raise awareness to customers and stakeholders at large on the newly upgraded meter reading system, Route Master Cloud. According to the Manager Information and Technology Mr. Kamohelo Hlomisi, these meter reading devices will help WASCO analyse its meters data, provide customers with accurate meter readings and help customers to have their own readings should there be complaints.
Mr. Hlomisi said the devices will enable meter readers to take high-quality photos of meters, accurately capture readings, and record the GPS locations of each meter. He underlined that these devices will work on WASCO`s cloud server and will therefore enable the head office monitoring.
The Sales Director (Africa) of Consolidated African Technologies and the supplier of the gadgets, Mr Ashton Enoch, says the Route Master Cloud system represents a significant technological advancement in water meter management. He highlighted that it is fully secure, cloud-based platform and offers consumers the ability to independently submit their water meter readings. Mr Enoch said the devices reduce the margin for error, estimates and delays, leading to more precise billing and enhanced customer satisfaction.
The Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Falla Seboko lauded the new meter reading system saying this initiative is a broader effort to modernise WASCO`s operations and provide more effective, user-friendly services to its customers. He emphasised that WASCO will partner with Techno institutions that will help it be at par with its global counterparts. He encouraged Meter Readers to make good use of the gadgets for the benefit of both WASCO and its customers.
